Deandre Burnett’s 41 points lead Ole Miss men’s basketball past Oral Roberts

Deandre Burnett scored a career-high 41 points, and the Ole Miss men’s basketball team outlasted Oral Robert 95-88 in overtime Friday in its opening game of the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Rebels (3-0) will play Saint Joseph’s in the winner’s bracket Sunday at 5 p.m. CT.
Burnett scored 37 of his points in regulation, including a 3-pointer with 33.4 seconds left to send the game to overtime tied at 79. The transfer from Miami finished 12 of 19 from the field, 9 of 12 from 3-point range and 8 of 8 from the free throw line, setting single-game tournament records for points and 3-pointers made.
Terence Davis added 13 points for the Rebels, who scored the last five points in regulation and led by as many as nine in overtime. Sebastian Saiz and Rasheed Brooks chipped in 11 apiece while Marcanvis Hymon scored eight points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to help Ole Miss overcome 16 more turnovers and 11 3-pointers from the Golden Eagles (1-2).
Albert Owens led four Eagles in double figures with 22 points. Emmanuel Nzekwesi had 20 points and 14 rebounds.
