Lafayette’s championship win is one to celebrate

Living in Oxford, we’re spoiled in having two outstanding public school districts within arm’s reach, both with excellent faculty, high-achieving students and passionate fans and alums supporting them every step of the way.
So passionate, in fact, that sometimes we get calls and letters from fans of both schools who take issue with our coverage of their chosen district, particularly its sports teams, which usually results in us having to pull examples from the archives to show we’ve never given preferential treatment to either side. (We’re happy to do it, of course, and district leaders should be pleased in knowing so many people care enough to make that call.)
Lafayette’s state title win this weekend is another exciting example of what our schools are achieving within our small, thriving town, and the entire community should celebrate that victory.
In a town which hasn’t had much good football to celebrate this year, the ‘Dores emerged as state champions.
A well deserved victory, indeed.
