OLIVE BRANCH – Oxford-based Coleman Funeral Home will soon boast a new facility in fast-growing DeSoto County to better accommodate its mission of high-quality, high-value funeral care.
Coleman Funeral Home recently broke ground at a four-acre site on Parkview Boulevard, across from the Olive Branch YMCA. Once opened, it will replace the current location in the Old Towne neighborhood on Goodman Road. Plans are for the nearly 6,000-square-foot facility to be completed next year.
“The design is open and full of light, dignified but not somber,” said Glenn Coleman, co-owner and funeral director. “It will reflect the architecture and aesthetics of our Oxford facility, which is so inviting that we host weddings, reunions and other events here.”
Having served Oxford and Lafayette County families since 2004, Coleman Funeral Home expanded to DeSoto County in February 2015. Longtime funeral director Larry Wray manages the Olive Branch location along with several staff members.
“Our Olive Branch staff are local people committed to DeSoto County and its communities. And we’re proud of our North Mississippi ownership,” Wray said.
As with its Oxford facility, Coleman Funeral Home’s new Olive Branch location will include a chapel space that can also serve as a banquet hall for catered meals or receptions. Events coordinator Jeremy Roberts will have a prep kitchen for menus from hors d’oeuvres to banquets.
“This facility will offer a more inviting atmosphere, generous parking and new conveniences and capabilities for the families we serve,” said co-owner Tom Fowlkes, MD. “But our focus remains on taking excellent care of our families — and being able to offer them exceptional value in our pricing.”
