Local youth take part in annual Debutante Ball

The holiday season for the Delta Debutante Club opened with several social events which were held in honor of the 16 debutantes before their presentation at the 74th annual Debutante Ball on Dec. 28.

Several local youths participated in the event as pages and escorts and Anna Laurence McGee was the one of 16 debutantes from Oxford.

McGee is the daughter of Virden McGee and Michael Hunter McGee of Oxford and the granddaughter of Mrs. Peter Lowber Laurence Virden of Oxford and the late Mr. Virden, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Leve Evans of Dallas, Texas. She is a student at the University of Mississippi where she is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Among the pages and page escorts to the debutantes from Oxford were:

•Catherine Williams Armishaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Frank Armishaw of Lexington, Kentucky. Her grandparents are Mrs. Delbert Wayne Farmer of Oxford and the late Mr. Farmer, and Mr. and Mrs. James Frank Armishaw of Cleveland.

•Rosemary Katherine Frugé is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Luis Frugé Jr. of Oxford. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy William Mitchell III of Tupelo, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Luis Frugé of Oxford.

•Laura Elizabeth McArthur is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Leo McArthur Jr. of Oxford. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Blann Phillips of Greenville, and Mr. and Mrs. James Leo McArthur of Jackson.

•Anne Walcott Steinriede is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wade Steinriede Jr. of Oxford. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Kenneth Myles Walcott Jr. of Hollandale and the late Mr. Walcott; Mrs. Michael William Tubertini of Glen Allan, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wade Steinriede of Glen Allan.

•Molly Catherine Tannehill  and Jack Rhea Tannehill III are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rhea Tannehill Jr. of Oxford. They are the grandchildren of Mrs. Deems McKenzie of Tupelo and Mr. Robert Howard McKenzie of Florence, Alabama; and Mrs. Walters Johnson of Laurel and Mr. Jack Rhea Tannehill of Union.
