Woman arrested after throwing her baby
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department arrested a local woman Wednesday after she allegedly threw her 10-month-old child to the ground.
Investigators say that at about 9 a.m., deputies responded to 66 County Road 173 for a disturbance. When they arrived, several family members were involved in an altercation.
Witnesses said that Sabrina L. Holden was holding her 10-month-old boy during the altercation and the child was either “pushed or thrown” to the ground, causing severe injuries to the child.
The baby was flown to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis where he is undergoing surgery this morning for a broken jaw and other injuries.
Holden was charged with child deprivation of necessities with substantial harm, a felony charge, and was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where she is awaiting her first-appearance bond hearing.
The Department of Human Services was contacted and has an open investigation on the case.
