Iris Katherine Montgomery passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at her home in Harmontown.

Mrs. Katherine enjoyed hobbies such as reading and arts and crafts. Through the years, she performed many hours of volunteer work throughout different communities. She had an amazing love for her husband, Leon Montgomery.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Montgomery; one daughter, Susan (Randy) Byrd; one sister, Margie Williams; three nieces, Sandra Swain, Jackie Gillion, and Kathy (Sammy) McPherson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jesse Mae Short; and one son, Donald Keith Montgomery.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford, with Bro. Pat Ward officiating.
