Louis Raphael Hartmangruber, 89, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at Hermitage Gardens in Oxford. The rosary and funeral mass will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oxford, with Father Joe Tonos officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Big Spring, Texas, to the late Louis Joseph and Cecilia Brucker Hartmangruber, Mr. Hartmangruber was a retired petroleum engineer. He was raised in New Orleans and graduated from Louisiana State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II and of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was married in France during the time of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hartmangruber was instrumental in pioneering developments in the oil fields in the West Texas Permian Basin.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marie Therese Precetti Hartmangruber of Oxford; daughters, Mary Christy Knapp and her husband, Byron of Oxford, Mary Lee Misemer and her husband, Philip of Sacramento, California, and Michele Marie Hartmangruber of Montreal, Quebec; son, Mark Louis Hartmangruber of Petaluma, California; brother, Michael A. Hartmangruber of Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
