Fatal crash claims life of Lafayette County resident

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single-car crash that killed a Lafayette County resident.
Deputies responded to County Road 371, also known locally as Pleasant Ridge Road, off Highway 7 near Water Valley at about 5:10 p.m. Thursday.
The SUV, driven by James Trent Ray, 61, went off the road for unknown reasons.
Ray was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy.
