Double dose of being Oxford High School proud

This has been quite a year so far for teams for Oxford and Lafayette schools.
We have had cross country, volleyball and football state championships. Now, teams at Oxford have claimed two more state championships in a historic day this weekend in Madison.
The Oxford boys soccer team, under the leadership of coach Charles Sabatier, won a Class 5A title with a 3-0 win over Madison Central. The Oxford girls team capped an undefeated season to win the 5A championship with a 2-0 win over West Harrison.
This was the second straight state championship for the Oxford girls and coach Hunter Crane.
Our schools are excelling in the classroom and in competition, and it is exciting to watch our young people compete and win.
To claim two state championships on the same day is rare for any school in this country, so seeing Oxford teams accomplish this feat is something we can all celebrate.
That’s why we want to give hearty congratulations to Oxford High School’s boys and girls soccer teams for winning the 2017 state championships.
Hard work that began last fall has paid off and the two victories on one day make this community proud.
