Great week to be in Oxford, Ole Miss

This, friends and neighbors, is the week of all weeks for Oxford if you love the arts and Ole Miss sports.
These two things — arts and sports — are the heart of our community and so it is fitting this week that we get the best of both worlds this week, starting with a William Eggleston documentary at the Lyric and Ole Miss vs. LSU basketball on campus for Valentine’s night (Tuesday).
After that, the Oxford Film Festival hits full stride and the nationally ranked Ole Miss baseball team starts its season against another nationally ranked team, East Carolina, with three games this weekend.
It is almost too good to be true, a renowned film festival occurring at the same time Swayze Field comes to life for the spring season. And get this: temperatures this coming February weekend will be unseasonably warm, reaching toward 70 degrees.
There’s also a special edition of Thacker Mountain Radio this Thursday at the Lyric that is part of the Oxford Film Festival, making this week in our small city one that is almost too good to be true.
But good news: it’s real. So there is no better time than this week to enjoy the best Oxford and Ole Miss has to offer.
