The Oxford Police Department is still searching for a man who allegedly stole a woman’s purse outside of Belk Department Store early Wednesday morning.
According to reports, officers were dispatched to the Oxford Galleria I shopping center at 6:08 a.m. where they met with a woman who said she was walking from her car to Belk to open up the store when she was approached from behind by a tall, slender black male wearing a dark T-shirt and blue jeans.
She claims the man grabbed her by the arm and took a bag from her before fleeing on foot through the parking lot toward West Jackson Avenue where he got into a white car. The car drove out on Home Depot Drive, turned right on Jackson toward Highway 6. The victim was not injured but claimed she scratched the suspect’s face.
Investigators are working on getting video footage from the area and will make any images available to the public once available through local media and their Facebook page.
