Stanley Elmer Kesler

Stanley Elmer Kesler, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at The Blake in Oxford. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Peterman officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home.

Born to the late Elmer John and Freda Shafer Kesler, Sergeant First Class Kesler retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Kesler was a member of the VFW Auxillary Post No. 3978 and Domino Club. He was a lay preacher for the Methodist Church and worked with the RSVP-Triad. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Pauline Reed Kesler, Mary Chaffin Kesler, Virginia Jordan Kesler, and Collie Harwell Kesler; a brother, Orval Kesler and a son-in-law, Fred Hargrove.

Mr. Kesler is survived by five daughters, Suzanne Irby and her husband, Randy, of Oxford, Debbie Hargrove of West Point, Becky Allen and her husband, Tom, of Bellvue, Nebraska, Julie Pepper and her husband, John, of Brandon, and Gloria Cissom and her husband, Jimmy, of Walnut; a step-son, Keith Robertson of Biloxi; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions in Mr. Kesler’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

In honor of Mr. Kesler’s service to our country the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
