Keep America Beautiful and The Coca-Cola Company are working together to address one of the primary barriers to recycling in public spaces by making access to recycling bins more readily available and convenient through the 2016 Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant Program.
In December 2016, Keep America Beautiful and The Coca-Cola Company announced that they will be awarding 35 recycling bins to Keep Oxford/Lafayette County Beautiful making more bins available so that we can recycle at most of the parks in Oxford.
The majority of these bins will be placed through FNC Park. There will be a couple at Pat Lamar Park and at Avent Park. With all the sports that are played at FNC Park, organizers hope that these recycling cans will increase the recycling rate and decrease the amount of trash generated by all the regular games and tournaments.
“The people of Oxford have been asking for more recycling receptacles at the ballfields,” said community member Lynn Wilkins, “and it makes perfect sense. All those water and sports drink bottles can now be easily recycled rather than taking up space in the landfill. We’re lucky to have such a strong recycling program — especially for a town our size.”
