OXFORD — Martin Emanuel “Bud” Jones Jr., 91, of Oxford, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville with burial to follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a minesweeper in the South Pacific during World War II, achieving the rank of Electrician’s Mate, Third Class (EM3c).

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Tom Jones and three sisters, Martha Lewis, Mary Ellen Vinson and Faye Conner.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Hazel Louise Wright Jones of Oxford; son Marty Jones of Plano, Texas; sister Annie Jones Vinson of Sardis and a host of other relatives and friends.
