The Oxford Police Department noticed a red Ford Ranger pickup Wednesday with no taillights driving at night on Frontage Road and stopped the vehicle.
During the stop, it was determined that the driver, Cedric Johnson, 43, of Meridian did not have a valid driver’s license. He gave permission to the officer to search his vehicle. Officers located a .22 caliber rifle inside the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia.
Johnson is a convicted felon and by law, cannot possess a firearm.
He was charged with having no driver’s license, no taillights and being a felon in possession of a weapon and taken to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department where he was booked on a $5,000 bond.
