Juanice Mitchell Gregory, 85, died May 9, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Visitation will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Shane McGivney officiating.
Born in Lafayette County to the late Jesse and Dulcie Haney Mitchell, Mrs. Gregory was a homemaker who loved to cook and care for her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She graduated from Yocona High School where she played on the basketball team. She found great pleasure in watching hummingbirds and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Gregory was instrumental in helping to establish Punkin Water Association and sat on the board for a number of years.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Gregory.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Mardis and her husband, Edward of Oxford; three sons, Carson Gregory and his wife, Vickie of Memphis, Tennessee, Clark Gregory of Como, and Carlton Gregory and his wife, Jennifer of Oxford; nine grandchildren, Lura Gregory, Tina Cagle, J. T. Wiseman, Cole Gregory, Reese, Brooke, Ryan and Heather Mardis and Gage Gregory; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Gregory’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
