The Oxford High School Theater Arts Guild (TAG) will host a 4-Man Scramble fund-raising golf tournament on Saturday, May 20 benefiting the program’s travel to compete in an International Theater competition in Edinburgh, Scotland this summer.
The event will be held at the Ole Miss Golf Course. It will include an 18-hole 4-Man Scramble, lunch, and prizes awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and tournament winners. Registration begins at 7 a.m., with the shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Organized by TAG, the golf tournament is one event in a 15 month-long campaign to raise funds to send eighteen students to compete in Edinburgh, Scotland’s International FRINGE festival this August.
“The golf tournament is an important part of our fundraising effort to support the theater students,” Tournament Co-Chair Mark Hartnett said. “Thanks to the generosity of the many people who make it successful, we are able to make a significant difference in the ability of students to put an international quality production on the stage for all the World to see.”
This year’s invitation to the international festival was Oxford High School Theatre’s fifth, under the direction of John Davenport. The students will present Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
The Presenting Co-Sponsors of the event are Grantham Construction, Cannon Motors, and Willow Anesthesia, continuing each’s legacy of sponsoring projects and programs that benefit students and the local community.
