Madge Gardner Todd

Mrs. Madge Gardner Todd, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Oxford, MS.

Mrs. Todd was born in Thaxton, MS. She retired from Baptist Memorial Hospital of Oxford as a secretary.  Some of her hobbies included cooking, reading cook books, and sitting on her porch on South 18th Street with her husband, waving at the people passing by.  She was a 20-year survivor of breast cancer.  Mrs. Todd was loved by everyone and “momma” to all of Sandra’s friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Coleman Funeral Home.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. also at Coleman Funeral Home. Elder Steve Weaver will officiate.

She was survived by one daughter, Sandra Todd of Oxford; one grandson, USMC Sgt. Brady Todd of Camp Pennington, CA; three nieces, Cindy (Ricky) Farris of Pontotoc, MS, Marilyn (Rusty) Easterling of Hattiesburg, MS, and Deborah Todd of Tampa Bay, FL; two nephews, Johnny (Alison) Todd and Andy Todd, both of Detroit, MI; one great-niece, Hannah Farris of Pontotoc; one brother-in-law, Billy (Shirley) Todd of Detroit, MI; one special cousin, Evelyn Russell of Oxford; and four special friends, Terrie Thomas Johnson of Water Valley, MS, Linda Carter Griffin of  Oxford, Thersa Lyles Nicks of Bruce, MS, and Teri Kavanaugh of Oxford.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Woodson Todd; her parents Wade Gardner and Zula Gardner; and her sister, Lois Carnes.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff on the fifth floor and ICU at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Oxford, Mrs. Todd’s doctors, and her home health nurses for all of their compassionate care and hard work.
