Celebrate tonight at The Lyric

Don’t let the rain get you down.
Sure, Oxford is soggy today from the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy making their way through North Mississippi, but the show goes on tonight at The Lyric downtown at 7 p.m.
It’s a summer special of Thacker Mountain Radio in honor of Mississippi’s Bicentennial Celebration.
Having a Thacker Mountain edition in the summer in Oxford is a nice treat, since its usually just other Mississippi towns that get our home-cooked radio show in the hottest months of the year.
And tonight’s Thacker special guest is one of our favorites, Oxford resident and Mississippi Poet Laureate Beth Ann Fennelly. She’s got a new book out this fall and will read from that but any time with Fennelly is good since she’s as good on stage as she is with words.
The rain may have pushed this special edition of Thacker Mountain Radio indoors, moving it from The Grove to The Lyric tonight at 7, but it did not stop the performance.
So head on out to the free program this evening and celebrate some of the best both Oxford and Mississippi have to offer.
