Charles George Krpec, Jr., 75 (October 23, 1941 –July 28, 2017) was born in Houston, Texas where he lived for sixty years. For forty of those years, he worked for the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) as an engineer, a computer specialist, and a research scientist. While in Houston, Mr. Krpec was a hunter, an award-winning marksman, and an avid sailor, often racing in regattas in the Gulf of Mexico. Because of his keen interest in firearms, he was asked to become a member of the Houston Gun Collectors Association and served on their board. He also enjoyed working for Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Hunter Education instructor. His friends and relatives will tell you that Charles was a wonderful cook and often treated them as well as his fellow workers with goodies from his kitchen. Shortly after his retirement, he and his wife Nancy moved to Oxford where he was a member of the Oxford Rotary Club, a Friend of the Ford Center, a member of the University Museum, a supporter of the Oxford Lafayette Humane Society, a volunteer for the Pantry, delivering food to shut-ins until he could no longer, a member of the Rose Society, AARL, and a volunteer for Mississippi Parks Wildlife and Fisheries, sometimes teaching classes in Hunter Safety. A generous one of us, Charles will be missed by many friends and family. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves behind his wife of forty years, Nancy Sklar Krpec; two sons and their families, Jim and Sarah Hitchcock, Ashtyn and Ainsley and William and Meredith Hitchcock, Drew and Grace. Private Service.
