John Paul Burrell

John Paul Burrell, 66, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. The funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Willis officiating. A burial will take place at 3 p.m. the same afternoon at Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery in Montpelier, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born to the late Grace McGee and Clifton Otha Burrell, Jr., Paul was a stone mason for Madison County Rocks and Pools and was the owner of Paul’s Pool Service. He attended Taylor United Methodist Church. Paul was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War as a demolition expert. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Burrell and a brother, Robert Burrell.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Burrell of Oxford; daughters, Maury Sullivan and her husband, Bryan of Lucedale, and Laurie Grace Burrell of Berkley, California; sons, Spencer Burrell and his wife, Brittany of Water Valley, and Blaine Burrell of Water Valley; brothers, Clifton Burrell, III of South Dakota and Larry Burrell and his wife, Amy of Amory; four grandchildren, Alexandra and Anna Weaver of Lucedale, Jackson Tankersley of Water Valley, Abel Knight of Berkley, California and Layla Grace Burrell of Water Valley, and several nieces and nephews.
