OXFORD — Thomas Allen Patton (aka Tom or Buddy), 83, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at his home in Oxford. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Bain and Reverend David Bodenheimer officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 17, 2017, in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home from 4:00 — 7:00 p.m.
He retired from the University of Mississippi where he was the electrical department supervisor at the physical plant until 1996. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of the North Oxford Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was well known as a servant to others and enjoyed helping those in need. He was a Mason and volunteered his time with the Habitat for Humanity organization and conducted mission work in Alaska, the MS Gulf Coast, Brazil, Maryland and numerous community locations.
Survivors include his wife, Marietta Young Patton of Oxford; three sons, Richard Allen Patton and his wife, Kristi of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Wayne Patton of Oxford, MS and Thomas Boyd Patton, also of Oxford, MS; sister, Jane Patton of Cordova, TN; brothers, Billy Patton of Pope, MS, Jerry Patton of Colombia, IL and Edward Patton of Brighton, TN; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Patton’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Mississippi, 232 Market Street, 2nd Floor, Flowood, MS 39232.
In honor of Mr. Patton’s service to his country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
