Joan Helm Mooney

Joan Helm Mooney, age 85, passed away at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS on August 19, 2017. She was born in Coffeeville, MS to the late Eldon Helm and Ethel Langham Helm, and worked at Big Yank in Water Valley until her retirement. She was an active member of O’Tuckolofa Baptist Church where she was affectionately known as “the peppermint lady” by the children of the church. She was quite a cook and loved to go fishing when her health permitted. She considered her church to be her family and was loved by the membership there.
Services are planned for Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with burial taking place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Mooney; four sisters, Christine Price, Earlene Fly, Stella Tribble, and Elizabeth Carter; and two brothers, John L. Helm and Thomas Helm.
She is survived by one sister, Janie Helm Armstrong of Batesville, MS; an adopted granddaughter, Sara Beth Dickerson; two caregivers who were also nieces, Margie Pilcher and Clemmie Callahan; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
