The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and Search and Rescue Team located a missing woman who was sitting in a parked car awaiting help.
According to Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn, the sheriff’s department received a call at about 11 p.m. Wednesday that a 76-year-old woman with dementia had wandered from her home in Taylor and was missing.
Sheriff Buddy East called in the county’s Search and Rescue team after deputies conducted a brief search.
The woman was found at 4 a.m., about a mile from her home, sitting in a parked car. Wilburn said the woman was uninjured but an ambulance was called to the scene to check the woman. She was reunited with her family who took her home.
