Gayle Wilson Crowe, 91, died Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Clear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lafayette County, MS, to the late Lewis Grover and Mary Lillian Waller Crowe, Mr. Crowe was retired from the United States Postal Service at the University of Mississippi and was known for interacting with college students, always remembering them by their P.O. Box numbers, even after they graduated from Ole Miss. Additionally, Mr. Crowe was a veteran of the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal, working in their postal service. He was a farmer and a member of Farm Bureau and served faithfully as a member and deacon of Clear Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Crowe is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sue Pitcock Crowe of Oxford, MS; daughters, Linda Crowe Britt and her husband, Larry of Oxford, MS, Connie Crowe Flanagin and her husband, Fred of Batesville, MS and Nita Crowe Foust and her husband, Jerry of Ackerman, MS; a son, Stephen “Steve” Wilson Crowe and his wife, Kay of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, David R. Bailey, III and his wife, Morgan of Meridian, MS, Bradley W. Bailey and his wife, Richelle of Roanoke, TX, William Gayle Britt and his wife, Bailey of Sheffield, AL, Matthew Clay Britt of Oxford, MS, Joshua W. Foust and his wife, Chelsea of Clinton, MS, Stephen Andrew Crowe of Oxford, MS, Jessica L. Foust of Jackson, MS, Kacey L. Terrell and her husband, Caleb of Oxford, MS, Alexander B. Foust of Flowood, MS and great-grandchildren, Ethan David Bailey and Luke Wesley Bailey of Meridian, MS and Montgomery Grace Terrell of Oxford, MS.

In honor of Mr. Crowe’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
