Barbara Fairbanks

Mrs. Barbara Fairbanks, 66, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at her residence in Lafayette County, Miss. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fairbanks, originally from Taunton, Mass., lived in the Mount Pleasant, N.C. for years, then moved to Lafayette County some time ago. As a veterinary technician, Mrs. Fairbanks loved, competed, and worked with horses all of her life. She was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, with a B.S. degree in animal science. She worked for Sky Band Farm, then for Dr. R. Sheehan, DVM, both in Massachusetts, and later at Grennock Veterinary Hospital in N. C.
Mrs. Fairbanks is survived by her son, Phillip (Stephanie) Laporte of Oxford, Miss; sister, Jean (Koji Matsuoka) Moore of Nagano, Japan; step-son, David Fairbanks of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; and grandson, Kenton Laporte of Oxford, Miss.
Mrs. Fairbanks is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Fairbanks; father, James Moore; and mother, Maryalice Moore.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may donate to the American Cancer Society or the Massachusetts Audubon Society in her memory.
