Christa Klauke Byars

Christa Klauke Byars, 74, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsboro City Cemetery in Pittsboro, Miss. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Austin Dixon, Peyton Dixon, David Tallent, Jason Burt, Jon Burt, Brian Byars and Dustin Byars. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday School Classes of St. Andrews UMC.

Mrs. Byars was born one of two girls, Jan. 4, 1943, to Fritz and Margarette Klauke in Oschersleben, Germany. On April 29, 1963, she married Major Raleigh Byars of Pittsboro, Miss. who was serving in the U.S. Army Intelligence in Germany. She was a military wife for 14 years living on many military bases over the USA and Germany. She was a trained cosmetologist and was co-owner of a beauty shop, Classique, for more than 40 years. She was a member of St. Andrews UMC for more than 40 years. She loved her family and was a doting grandmother to her two grandsons. She loved animals and at one time owned seven horses and numerous dogs over the years. All that knew her loved her wonderful personality and zest for life.

Survivors include husband, Raleigh Byars of Oxford; daughter, Kathy Dixon of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; sister Barbara Haars of Helmstedt, Germany; two grandsons, Austin Dixon of Hoboken, New Jersey and Peyton Dixon, of Oxford, Miss.; brother-in-law Stanley Byars (Betty) of Pittsboro, Miss., Eastland Byars of Calhoun City, Miss.; Ricky Byars (Cheryl) of Tupelo, Miss.; sister-in-law Debbie Burt (Wade) of Houlka, Miss.. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Margarete Klauke, sisters-in-law, Ann Byars Tallent West, Joyce Byars and Mildred Byars and a host of nieces and nephews.
