Gray, Rockette headed to runoff election in Water Valley mayor race

Water Valley mayoral candidates Donald Gray and Terry Rockette earned the most votes out of four candidates vying for the job as mayor during a special election Tuesday, according to the North Mississippi Herald.
Gray received the most votes with 329, and Rockette received 219 votes. The two will face off on Jan. 9 in a runoff election.
Candidates Mickey Howley and Herbie Rogers earned 204 and 121 votes respectively.
There are approximately 20 affidavit ballots that will be examined Wednesday.
The mayor seat opened in November after then-Mayor Larry Hart announced his resignation that became effective Nov. 3.
