Harvis Leon French

Harvis Leon French, 92, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, Miss.  He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Paris, Miss. to the late Harvis Emmet French and Ida Mae Burk French and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Harvis was a member of Drivers Flat Baptist Church.

He was a retired auto mechanic, enjoyed working in his garden, loved animals, taking care of his family and was the best husband ever.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Stacy Watkins officiating. Burial was in Jumpers Chapel Cemetery.

Harvis is survived by his wife, Ina Mae French of Water Valley, Miss.; four daughters, Janet French of Toms River, N.J., Candice French of Keyport, N.J., Elizabeth French of Water Valley, Miss., and Patricia Pratt of Water Valley, Miss.; two sons, Wayne French of Jackson, N.J., and Boyd Steele of Byhalia, Miss., ten grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.
