Two days after a GoFundMe Campaign was organized to help with funeral services, an Oxford funeral home has stepped in to assist with the funeral of 19-year-old LaQuisha Marshall.
L. Hodges Funeral Service has donated full funeral and services for Marshall. Time and date of the arrangements have yet to be announced.
“She could have been my child or grandchild or even yours. I’m going to see that this child is buried, donations or not,” said Lavera Hodges, owner of L. Hodges Funeral Service.
Marshall was shot on Jan. 3 while sitting inside a car parked outside of the Burger King on University Avenue. The Oxford Police Department has stated that the shooting appears to be accidental.
Jadarius Harmon, 22, Marshall’s friend and co-worker, shot Marshall while sitting behind her in the car. The bullet went through the passenger’s seat and struck Marshall in the back.
Harmon was formally charged with manslaughter-culpable negligence and booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
The GoFundMe campaign set up for her burial has raised $1,350 of a $3,000 goal in two days.
Anyone who wishes to donate to pay funeral costs may send donations to L Hodges Funeral Service, 38-F Highway 334, Oxford MS 38655 RE: LaQuisha Marshall Account or by calling 662-238-6265.
