Man charged with stealing shotgun

- On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, the Oxford Police Department arrested Hunter Lenard (18 of Batesville, MS) for burglary. On February 12, 2018, the Oxford Police Department took a report that someone had broken into their vehicle stole a shotgun along with other items. Through the course of the investigation we learned that Lenard was the suspect in the auto burglary. The shotgun was subsequently recovered in Panola County. Lenard was arrested by the Batesville Police Department on the burglary warrant and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a bond of $10,000.00.
On Feb. 12, the Oxford Police Department took a report of a vehicle burglary. The victim said a shotgun was stolen along with other items.
Through the course of the investigation, police determined Hunter Lenard, 18, of Batesville, allegedly broke into the vehicle and stole the gun and other items. The shotgun was recovered in Panola County.
Lenard was arrested on Tuesday on a warrant by the Batesville Police Department and later transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $10,000 bond.
