Mr. Walter Norris “Scooter” Ahrens, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi on March 6, 2018. He was surrounded by his children, sisters and mother. The family will receive friends Friday, March 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel, Charleston, Miss. Interment will follow in Charleston City Cemetery.

Mr. Ahrens was a 1970 graduate of Charleston High School. He was a United States Navy veteran having served bravely during the Vietnam war.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Walter N. Ahrens, Sr.  of Charleston; his children, Brittany (Jamie) Meyer of Oxford, Miss., and Trey (Kristen) Ahrens of Charleston; his sisters, Sandy (Charles) Duren, Amy McBrayer both of Charleston and Alisa (Kelly) West of Oxford. He is also survived by two grandchildren with one on the way, as well as four nieces and two nephews.
