Before the Easter Bunny starts bouncing around the globe next weekend, he’s making a stop in Oxford on Saturday to spend time with area children on the downtown Square.
The Oxford Square Alliance will be presenting its annual Spring Open House from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
A morning event for the past seven years, OSA president Mark Huelse said the time was changed to the afternoon this year to avoid chilly mornings.
“It’s still pretty cold in the mornings, so we made it later when it warms up some,” Huelse said.
Easter Bunny will be available for free photo opportunities with families and children. Also, there will be art activities taking place on the Lafayette County Courthouse lawn, hosted by Art to Go, which is sponsored for the day by the OSA.
Huelse said many of the Square businesses will be holding sales and encourages everyone to stop in and support a local business or two after visiting with the Easter Bunny.
“This is just another way for the alliance to provide some good family fun and bring families out to enjoy an afternoon on the Oxford Square,” Huelse said.
The Easter Bunny will return to Oxford next week on Saturday, March 31, for the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt at FNC Park, sponsored by the Oxford Park Commission. After the egg hunt, which starts promptly at 10 a.m., children can visit with the Easter Bunny and then check out some cool trucks and cars — from fire trucks to police cars to huge garbage trucks. They might even get to turn on a siren or blow a horn.
