Presley to Hold Public Hearing on Taylor Substation

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley will hold a public hearing regarding a request from North East Mississippi Electric Power Association to establish a substation in Taylor. 

The hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at Taylor Town Hall, located at 12 Main Street, Taylor, MS.

According to a recent news release, the substation is needed to accommodate a new TVA transmission line that will run from Oxford to Water Valley. If approved, the substation is expected to improve reliability for south Lafayette County customers.

North East Power currently has 1,994 miles of power lines across its service territory, which encompasses Lafayette County as well as parts of Marshall, Pontotoc and Union counties. The company currently services over 25,000 meters, 89 percent of which are residential. For every mile of power line, North East Power serves 12.75 meters.

Citizens with concerns or questions will be allowed to speak as public witnesses and have their comments placed on the official record of the case before the Public Service Commission.
