John Westmoreland, 46 of Harmontown, has been charged with a total of six counts of touching a child for lustful purposes.
According to reports from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, Westmoreland’s wife operated a daycare out of their home, where the incidents allegedly occurred. Westmoreland was originally arrested on Tuesday, July 3 and charged with one count of child molestation, but since then another five victims have come forward, Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn said.
“The victims ranged in age from 10 to 12 years old, and at this time, we believe they are all female,” Wilburn said in a statement to the EAGLE. “It’s believed these incidents happened in the last six months.”
Westmoreland was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center with a bond of $750,000.
Those with information regarding the case, or possible victims who have yet to come forward, are encouraged to call the sheriff’s department at 662-234-6421.
