Luke Hazlerig

Mr. Luke Hazlerig, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at his home in Oxford. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Hazlerig was born in Covington, Tenn. He moved to Oxford in 1970, where he owned and operated a local restaurant, named Benzo’s, until 1978.  He then began working in the appliance repair business and eventually opened his own business, Luke’s Appliance Repair, which he operated for 30 years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Hazlerig is survived by three daughters, Renee Conti of Covington and Katie Dodson and Haley Hazlerig, both of Dundee, Miss.; four sons, Marty (Patsy Ann) Hazlerig and Jeffrey Hazlerig, both of Covington, Mike Hazlerig of Stanton, Tenn. and Barry Hazlerig of Greensboro, Pa.; one step-daughter, Melinda Griffin of Water Valley, Miss.; one step-grandson, Matthew Moorman of Oxford; three sisters, Mary Loise Gray and Joyce Deveryl, both of Covington and Marie Hazlerig of Missouri; one brother, Bruce (Fay) Hazlerig of Covington; nine grandsons, seven granddaughters and two step-granddaughters.

Mr. Hazlerig was preceded in death by his parents, Malteen Lincoln Hazlerig and Alta Mae Hazlerig and 14 siblings.
