Johnny Eligha Deaton

Mr. Johnny Eligha Deaton died Aug. 4, 2018, at Tallahatchie Extended Care Facility in Charleston, Miss.
Johnny was born in Teasdale, Miss., Sept. 1, 1927, to the late Eligha Monroe Deaton and Dovie Lee Hollingsworth Deaton.
Johnny worked for FedEx for 12 years as a maintenance technician.
He enjoyed being a “salvage hunter,” tinkering with old tractors and singing church hymns with his family.
Johnny also served as an Elder at Jackson Grove Church of Christ in Enid, Miss.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Jackson Grove Church of Christ in Enid with Bro. Robert Rawson presiding.
Johnny is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Ratliff (Robert) of Grenada, Miss.; one son, Steve Deaton (Mary) of Olive Branch, Miss.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Casey Deaton; one son, Larry (Butch) Deaton and two sisters, Louise Collins and Sue Beard.
