Born in Vaiden, Miss. on June 28, 1929, to the late Rev. She earned her BA in Education from the University of Memphis and taught first through sixth grades in Olive Branch for 25 years. After her retirement, she applied her education to start the kindergarten/pre-school daycare at First Baptist Church of Olive Branch and to focus on her role as a grandmother and community volunteer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Olive Branch for 60 years where she was active in many areas.

Mrs. Cochran was an avid woodworker and golfer and founded the Ladies Golf Association at the Olive Branch Country Club.  Additionally, she was a founding member of the Olive Branch Literary Council and GED training program where she served as director for several years.  She and her husband loved traveling to golf tournaments and especially enjoyed cruises.
