OXFORD — It is time once again for the Ole Miss baseball program winter camps. On Jan. 19 and 20 kids ranging from first to 12th grade can come to Oxford and learn the ins and outs of baseball from the Ole Miss coaching staff, players, and additional coaches from around the country.
On Jan. 19 the camp with be a hitting specialty theme and the camp on Jan. 20 is a pitching/catching specialty. Covering all the topics for each specialty, which the camp brochure highlights around eight-to-nine topics under each category that camp instructors, such as assistant baseball coach Marc MacMillan, will try to hit in a one-day period.
“I learned from the best camp director in the country, and that’s coach (Mike) Bianco,” MacMillan said. “He is excellent at teaching you how to organize it. Two additional keys are you must have facilities and coaches. We are fortunate to have the best baseball facilities in the country while at the same time have such great support from Coach Luke, Coach Smith, and FNC Park allowing us to extend our camp beyond Swayze with the use of their respective complexes.”
The new performance center will be a highlight for the camp. With five batting cages installed, the reasoning behind it was a dual-purpose for the current team but also with future camps in mind and the ability to accommodate a large number of participants needing to get swings in finite amount of time.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. While the camps are two separate events, participants who want register for both may do so and save $50.
