Obituary – Mary Victoria McCullar

In the early morning hours of Friday, March 8, 2019, Mary Victoria McCullar departed this life for her final reward. She passed away at The Waters of Winchester health facility in Winchester, Tennessee.

Born to the late Harry and Howard Cooper on September 24, 1925, she was the wife of the late Edward Clyne McCullar. A lifelong homemaker, she worked for many years at the Batesville Hosiery Mill and at Fred’s Dollar Store. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville. The last 20 years, she lived in Texas, Virginia, and Tennessee to be near family. 

Graveside services were held in Orwood Cemetery in Lafayette County, Mississippi, on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Reed McCleb officiating.

She is survived by two children and their spouses, Edward Terry McCullar (Annie B.) of Oxford, Mississippi, and Karen McCullar Palmertree (Billy D.) of Decheard, Tennessee; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Zupo of Seguin, Texas, Mike McCullar (Brittany) of New Braunfels, Texas, Barry Palmertree (Petra) of Poquoson, Virginia, and Brian Palmertree (April) of Waconia, Minnesota ; and seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Savannah Zupo, Waylon and Westin McCullar, Katie and Sam Palmertree, and Vivian Palmertree.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, American Stroke Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, First United Methodist Church of Batesville, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Dickins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
