A Facebook account impersonating an Oxford Police officer is currently being investigated. The Oxford Police Department was recently made aware of a fraudulent Facebook account pretending to be Oxford police captain Hildon Sessums was publishing offensive material. 

The OPD stated the account was citing negative and racist content.  

Upon an initial investigation it was determined Sessums was not associated with the fake account and that it was created on the social media platform by a third party who was not connected with Sessums, the OPD or the City of Oxford. 

The police department is working with Facebook in trying to identify the owner of the fake account and a statement released noted the investigation is ongoing and more information will be given when it becomes available.
