Ole Miss softball game against South Carolina canceled

Monday’s series finale between Ole Miss and South Carolina was halted and eventually canceled due to rain. No makeup date will be scheduled and the stats from the game will not count.
Ole Miss was leading 2-0 heading into the fifth inning behind a two-run home run off the bat of Brittany Finney when rain began to come down at the Carolina Softball Stadium.
Although the rain subsided, the game was canceled per SEC rules because the fifth inning was not able to be resumed by 9 p.m. ET. A game must reach five complete innings before it can be considered a completed contest.
Ole Miss will return home to Oxford with a 3-2 SEC record and prepare for a three-game series with Florida. The Rebels and Gators will meet up Friday through Sunday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Friday’s game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with Saturday’s game set for 4 p.m. The series finale will be Sunday at noon.
