The SEC Tournament gets under way today in College Station, Texas. Ole Miss needed only one win last weekend at Georgia to lock up a top-4 seed and a Wednesday bye in the tournament, but got swept by the Bulldogs. Now the No. 5 seed, they will play tonight to start their tournament run.
Ole Miss will face the winner of Texas A&M and Mississippi State tonight, Wednesday May 8, at 8 p.m. The game is televised on SEC Network. With a win, they will play No. 4 seed Kentucky, who they beat two of three times this season.
At 13-10 in conference, Ole Miss is ranked No. 17 in the nation by the USA Today coaches poll. They’re going to likely need wins in Texas to land in a top-16 spot where they will host a regional here in Oxford.
Molly Jacobsen, an All-SEC selection, will likely be pitching tonight for Ole Miss. Jacobson is 13-6 in starts this year with a 1.76 ERA.
The SEC released All-SEC honors on Tuesday, with a record Four rebels being named. Senior outfielder Kylan Becker was first team All-SEC. Jacobsen was second team All-SEC. Outfielder Tate Whitley was named to the All-Freshman team and outfielder Kaylee Horton was named to the Al-Defense team.
