Louisiana has not lost since March 20 and that trend continued on Friday. The Ragin’ Cajuns defeated Southeast Missouri 3-2 at the Ole Miss Softball Complex to open the Oxford Regional.
Lexie Comeaux brought in the game-winning run with an RBI single to score shortstop Alissa Dalton in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Ragin’ Cajuns winning streak extended to 28 games.
Louisiana (51-4) advances to the winner’s bracket game at 12 p.m. on Saturday. SEMO (45-17) falls into the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament and will play again at 2:30 p.m on Saturday.
The Redhawks got on the scoreboard first when right fielder Mykaela Arellanes hit her ninth home run of the season in the top of the third inning. Louisiana responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame to grab a 2-1 lead.
Following SEMO tying the game up at 2-all in the top of the fifth inning, Comeaux’s hit secured Louisiana the win.
