Carolyn Sturdivant Brasher, 88, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, surrounded by her precious family and loving caregivers at a private care facility in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Visitation was Friday, May 17, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 2 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Michael Peasall will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
On August 16, 1948, she married James G. Brasher and throughout their seventy-year marriage, Carolyn referred to her husband as “my Jim”. He preceded her in death by only three months. The family takes great joy in knowing that Carolyn and Jim have been reunited.
Carolyn lived her life serving others with a remarkable authentic joy. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, Sunday School teacher, and grandmother. She embraced her role as Grandmother so fervently that her grandmother name, “Mimi”, became the name she was most known by during the last four decades of her life. She lived her life being the hands and feet of Jesus to everyone around her.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by her three children, Martha Brasher (Tom) Boone of Nashville, Tennessee, John Brasher of Oxford, Mississippi, and Sally Brasher (Michael) Peasall of White House, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Carolyn Elizabeth (Boone) Bledsoe, Philip Lawrence Boone, Sarah Joyce (Peasall) McGuffey, Hannah Grace (Peasall) Fisher, Leah Faith (Peasall) Bryan, Joseph Clay Peasall, Emma Caroline Peasall, and Julia Elizabeth Peasall; and six great grandchildren, Henry Bledsoe, Adelaide Bledsoe, Jack Bryan, Lillian Bryan, Oaks McGuffey, and Loretta Bryan.
Memorial donations may be made to the International Missions Board, Lottie Moon Offering (3806 Monument Ave., Richmond, VA 23230). Online condolences may be left on the Tribute Wall at www.colemanfuneralhome.com.
