An incident that left one person dead in the Brittany Woods area on Sunday is now being investigated as a homicide, per the Oxford Police Department. 

 Around 2 p.m., OPD responded to an alert of an unresponsive person located at 1009 Suncrest Drive. When officers arrived to the scene, they found one person deceased. 

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist and will oversee the investigation, per a statement provided by the OPD on Sunday evening. The investigation remains active and ongoing. On Monday the MBI did release the name of the victim, Dominique Lashelle Clayton (32) of Oxford.  

The release continued to say the District Attorney’s office will receive all investigative findings from the MBI throughout the process for consideration and review. The MBI will also not make any further comment regarding the investigation ‘in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.’
