Obituary – William Eugene (Bill) Still

William Eugene (Bill) Still, 84, of Sardis, Mississippi, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 2, 2019, in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He was the son of the late Rayford Eugene (Gene) Still and
Robbie Goodnight Still, born on October 10, 1934, in the Cold Springs community near Sardis. He was married to his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Weaver Still, on June 23, 1956. He was a proud graduate of Mississippi State University and upon graduation in 1956. He served in the United States Air Force as a navigator/bombardier on B-47’s, achieving the rank of Captain. He went on to successful careers in manufacturing and insurance in Batesville, Mississippi, until his retirement.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, in the Martin Willingham
Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at Wells Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service Saturday at Cold Springs Cemetery.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Ales of Sardis; his three sons and daughters-in-law, John
Rayford (Ray) and Tammy Greenspan Still of Harvest, Alabama; William Steven (Steve) and Joy Harbor Still of Norris, Tennessee, and Samuel Philip (Sam) and Barbara Still of Atlanta, Georgia; and his six grandchildren: Elisabeth, Emily, Rebekah, Micah, Liam and Patrick Still. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Weaver Still, of Columbus, Mississippi.
