Trench Collapse Victim Identified

The victim of a Monday trench collapse in Taylor’s Plein Air neighborhood has been identified as Larry Jackson, according to Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy.
On Monday at approximately 1:34 p.m., first responders with both Oxford and Lafayette County Fire Departments, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and CareMed were dispatched to Mosaic Drive in Taylor in response to a call about a trench that collapsed and trapped one man beneath the rubble.
Jackson, of nearby Como, Miss., was extricated and pronounced dead at the scene by Kennedy at approximately 2:36 p.m.
A private company was conducting the trench project.
