Oxford Animal Shelter MS Critterz is hosting a pet food drive in recognition of National Feed a Rescue Pet week.
The pet food drive begins today and will run through next Tuesday, July 30. When individuals donate Pedigree Dog food or Purina Cat food, they will be entered into a prize drawing, a news release from MS Critterz said. The drawing will take place via Facebook Live next Wednesday, July 31.
“We are so excited for our first Pet Food Drive. We go through a lot of food, especially during kitten and puppy season so we are hoping to re-stock our shelves,” MS Critterz representative Caitlan Covington said. “People can purchase pet food at PetSmart and donate to us without having to physically bring it to the shelter.
“We only feed our residents Pedigree & Purina to help ensure that our Critterz maintain a healthy diet, thus eliminating the array of issues that come with changing a pet’s food. We have found that this practice leads to increased overall wellness.”
Tickets for the drawing can also be purchased via donation to the shelter. A $5 donation earns one ticket, $10 earns two tickets, $20 earns four tickets and $50 earns 10 tickets.
MS Critterz is an open intake shelter for citizens residing in Oxford and Lafayette County. The shelter focuses on educating the community on the importance of spay and neuter practices, promote welfare of pets in our community, transporting animals to states with better animal control laws and TNR (trap-neuter-release) practices.
