Obituary – Rosemarie “Roey” Cammisa Kingery

Rosemarie “Roey” Cammisa Kingery, 68, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, with family by her side at home in Houston, Texas. The memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oxford with Father Joe Tonos officiating. Innichment will be in the columbarium at St. John’s. The visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

 

Rosemarie was born in Waterbury, Conn., on September 19, 1950, and received her BA in Education from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she met and married her husband Tom.  For over 30 years, she was an educator and Certified Reading Recovery Specialist with the Maryland State Education System.  She specialized in identifying at risk children who, at an early age, displayed reading comprehension issues and she developed one-on-one realistic plans for corrective action.

She was passionate about contributing to her students’ overall future successful development.  She became a SEC football fan when both of her daughters attended Ole Miss and took great pride in preparing for each game in the Grove. After raising their children in Alexandria, Va., the Kingerys retired to Oxford in 2007, and Roey was active in the Centennial Club, Garden Club, Lafayette County Republican Women’s Club and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Filomena Cammisa. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas Farrell Kingery Jr., of Oxford; two daughters, Melissa Anne Socha, of Houston, Texas, and Jennifer Lauren Kliman, of Germantown, Tenn.; son-in-laws, Warren Joseph Socha and Brian Michael Kliman; and five grandchildren, Tyler Haynes Socha, age 13, Hadley Elizabeth Socha, age 11, John Harrison Socha, age 9, Sutton Thomas Kliman, age 7, and Cormac Waite Kliman, age 3. Roey’s kind personality, smile, and warm generosity will always be treasured by her family and remembered by her many friends.
